Note : The application fee for GATE 2026 has been determined on a per-paper basis; therefore, if a candidate applies for two papers, they will be required to pay double the fee. Furthermore, payment must be made exclusively through online modes (UPI, Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking), and once submitted, the fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Age limit of IIT Gate 2026  Exam 
There is no prescribed age limit for the GATE 2026 examination; that is, candidates of any age may apply for this exam, provided they fulfill the prescribed educational qualifications (Eligibility Criteria).
Eligibility Criteria of  IIT GATE 2026 EXAM  
The eligibility criteria for the IIT GATE Exam 2026 are as follows:Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must be undergraduate students in their 3rd year or above, OR
  • They must have completed their graduation.

Eligible Courses: Candidates from all the following streams are eligible to apply:

  • Engineering / Technology (B.E. / B.Tech)
  • Architecture (B.Arch / B.Planning)
  • Science (B.Sc / M.Sc)
  • Commerce / Arts / Humanities
  • Pharmacy (B.Pharm / Pharm.D)
  • Agriculture / Forestry / Horticulture

Others Eligibility : Regarding other eligibility criteria for GATE 2026, no minimum marks have been prescribed; furthermore, candidates from both India and abroad are eligible to apply for this examination. Additionally, candidates pursuing professional courses-such as AMIE- are also eligible to apply, provided that their course is recognized by the relevant authority.

Examination Pattern of  IIT GATE 2026 Exam
The GATE 2026 examination is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, wherein all questions are asked online. The total duration of the examination is 3 hours, comprising a total of 65 questions with a maximum score of 100 marks. The questions are of three types: MCQ, MSQ, and NAT. The examination consists of General Aptitude (15 marks) and the remaining subject-based questions (85 marks). Negative marking is applicable for MCQs, whereas there is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs.
